Background: Bernadette, originally from America, was headed down the lonely path of a normal, completely mundane life. She was attending a woman's college to become, most likely, a librarian or legal secretary (known today as a paralegal), in her second year, when she was attacked. She'd been beaten, raped, and bitten; turned. When she awoke days later, she was in the arms of the Inori clan leader himself, who had taken her to Japan while she'd been out. At first, she had wondered if he'd been the one to attack her, and so she'd fled his manor. It wasn't long before he'd found her again, and proved to her that he was not her attacker, but her savior. She couldn't return to her old life now obviously, so, Ryuko offered her a home. With nowhere else to go, she accepted it.  He taught her personally, how to control her blood lust, how to use her newfound abilities, and how to accept what she now was.
In return, she took up a job as his personal secretary. She began to handle a lot of the necessary behind-the-scenes things he needed done, and since she was far more efficient with money than he, she took care of that too. She handles the finances, like paying bills and taxes, deciding how to properly divvy up the budget to keep the clan running smoothly. She also makes sure everyone keeps to their schedules, and hands out any jobs or errands that need to be done.
She's sweet, but outgoing and veracious. She's a very strong willed woman, who loves her now long time family, and would do anything for them.
