Background: Maria was born on September 8th, 1870, in Bucharest, Romania, as the first princess of Romania. She was a very precocious child, being capable of identifying countries on a map at only the age of 2 and a half. She was curious and loving, and everyone who knew her described her as beautiful.
But, on April 5th, 1874, Maria came down with scarlet fever. History tells us that she died on April 9th, just a few days later. But this is not actually the case. Roman had been watching the royal family for some time, and took interest in the child. On the 9th of April, Roman approached the royal family claiming he could save Maria's life. Desperate for their daughter to live, they naively trusted the stranger.
Roman injected Maria with the turn venom, confident she would survive the turn despite being so ill. She was a strong child, and he was right. She made it through the turn, but Roman took her. Leaving the royal family with an empty bed, and a need to cover up what happened. Roman got what he wanted, and the family had to tell the public that Maria died, greiving for the loss of their child as though she actually had died.
Roman took her home with him, and raised her in his clan. It was an adjustment for her, of course, but she was young enough at the time that it didn't take long to train her to be obedient towards him. Even loving towards him. Even then, Maria was no exception to the manipulative charms of Roman Vasile.
She was a fast learner, and strong. He taught her how to fight, how to be a warrior, and she took to the training quite naturally. For bladed weapons, she favoured the long sword, and the way she moved while wielding it, was like she was dancing. She will also rely on push blades.
When it came to firearms, she loved a good Beretta battle rifle, which she's able to use one handed, and a classic Smith & Wessen revolver. She much prefers these firearms to blades, but some situations call for for a more quiet approach, hense bladed weapons.
Every day that went by, Maria became brighter, stronger, and far more beautiful than she already was. As soon as she was old enough, Roman made her his bride. She is loyal to him to a T, and even takes part in decision making when it comes to the clan. But, she wasn't his only bride. Although the first, there have been others that have appeared to take the title of Roman's bride. The most recent, and making it a total of four, was made a bride one month ago. Maria, however, is special. She presides over them, keeping them in line and making sure they know their place below her.
Maria is incredibly smart, and observant. She spends a lot of time watching others, studying them, rather than speaking. When she does speak, it's usually meaningful. Perhaps even more so than her husband, she's able to keep herself perfectly cool in any situation. Where Roman can, the odd time, lose his temper, she'll be perfectly calm. She's also the only one who can make Roman relax when he does become angry. Nothing can break her resolve, and nothing can break her loyalty and commitment to Roman.
