Background: Sayuri's story was not a happy one. Sayuri was born in the woods with her parents, where they lived in a small pack that moved through life a majority of the time as wolves. Although it was tough, they were generally at peace. But one awful night, when Sayuri was around ten years of age, a group of vampires struck. The pack was slaughtered, but when they came to little Sayuri, rather than killing her, they saw an opportunity.
They took her and kept her. She was beaten into submission, and kept in a collar enchanted so that only her "master" could remove it. With this collar, she was chained in a basement, until the times they needed her to kill someone. More than the beatings and neglectful treatment, Sayuri was most traumatized by the killings; having to kill others. Because her name, Sayuri, means "small lily", her captors called her "Lily" as a "pet name". As if she wasn't worthy of being treated as anything more than an attack dog, so to speak.
She could barely sleep, and when she did, it was filled with nightmares of the faces of those lives she was forced to take. She could barely eat, and was often times forced to eat awful foods to keep her strength up. She was broken. How terrible one so young have their spirit so broken.
Luck seemed to shine on her, however. The vampires that held her captive, were attacked by rivals, and the home went up in flames. In the amidst the confusion of clashing bodies and roaring fires, she was able to escape. Completely alone, she wandered, dirty, bruised and bloody, she wandered the streets until an old woman, human, took pity on her. She brought her inside, clothed her and fed her, and for a few weeks, allowed Sayuri to stay there. But it was only two months, at most, before Sayuri was back out on the streets. You see, the woman was very old, and very sick, and was not long for this world. She had past away in her sleep.
Sayuri returned to the woods, the only way she knew how to live. But now she's completely alone, which is only further damaging her already broken soul. That enchanted collar still stuck around her neck.
Sayuri is very shy, skittish, and quietly spoken. Although sweet and kind, she doesn't trust easily, and is terrified of vampires.
